Waterjet Cutting

Request a Quote

Waterjet cutting uses a stream of water, pressurized between 40,000 ans 100,000 PSI, and forced through a .014″ diameter diamond orifice. The resulting jet is driven by a computer to precisely cut the desired geometry. Soft materials such as cork, rubber, foils, or cloth are cut using water only. Garnet abrasive is drawn into the stream of the orifice to cut harder materials. Some material, such as glass, diamonds and ceramics cannot be cut using the waterjet.

Why should you consider using the waterjet to cut your next job?

1) FAST TURNAROUND

No waiting on dies or fixtures, or even programming, since the machine works directly from your CAD files. You don’t have CAD files, no problem, we’ll draw it up for you.

2) HIGH PRECISION
Accurate, can cut parts to +/- 0.005 accuracy.

3) SMOOTH FINISH
Cutting with Waterjet leaves a smooth, sandblasted edge, with virtually no burr, eliminating finishing steps.

4) MATERIAL INTEGRITY
Since no heat is used there is no hardening, no burning, and no material property changes.

5) LESS WASTE
Kerf width of only 0.030″ and tight part nesting allows maximum usage of material, especially important for expensive materials.

6) ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Uses only water, garnet, and electricity.  No cutting fluids, oils, fumes, or burning.

7) LOW COST
No costly dies or fixtures, and fast machining.  The waterjet is programmed directly from CAD files, greatly reducing CNC programming costs.

8) SINGLE PIECE MINIMUM
The fast setup, easy programming and machine speed allows for economical one-off production…great for prototyping.

9) CUTS VIRTUALLY ANYTHING
Waterjet can machine virtually any material, any thickness.
